FORMAL POSITION OF GREEN LAWN CEMETERY BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON PROPOSED MOTOR SPORTS COMPLEX AT COOPER STADIUM

The Board of Trustees of Green Lawn Cemetery passed a resolution at their meeting on June 16, 2008 in opposition to a motor sports complex being built adjacent to the north end of the Cemetery on the Cooper Stadium land. Their major concern was noise in the area during funeral services and at other times when families visit their loved ones expecting peace and a quiet place for remembrance and meditation. Additionally, the Board is concerned about the visual impact of the sports complex on Green Lawn as well as the disruption of bird and wildlife habitat in the 360 acre greenspace.
