Re: Proposed Motorsports Complex at Cooper Stadium

I am writing to bring your attention to a serious threat to our community.
A high-speed motorsports complex has been proposed as redevelopment for Cooper Stadium, a baseball park in the Franklinton neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio. I am a member of a group that has formed to protest this redevelopment - ROAR - Redevelop Our Area Responsibly.
ROAR Columbus is a coalition of Franklinton and Columbus-area residents and business owners. We support the redevelopment of Cooper Stadium in a manner that is appropriate to its neighborhood location and consistent with the green initiatives proposed by Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, Columbus City Council and the Franklin County Commissioners. We do not believe that a motorsports complex embraces any of the aforementioned initiatives, and we believe that it will harm the residential areas and the businesses in the area with noise and air pollution. The motorsports complex can succeed only by harming other nearby residents and businesses. Our community should not promote development of that type.
ROAR Columbus, and I personally, would like to ask for your support in our effort to convince our public officials to insist on other types of development for this forty acre parcel of land. We ask that you forward a copy of any letter or message you send and any response you receive from these public officials to contact@roarcolumbus.org and the ROAR Columbus Steering Committee will disseminate this information to our members and at our meetings.
